Bio
Dr. Gilleran has experience in orthopaedic physical therapy practice, education, and research. He graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College (MSMC) in 1994 with a Master’s degree in physical therapy. His early clinical and mentoring experiences were influenced by his work at the UCLA Sports Medicine Center and as an Adjunct Instructor at MSMC. Dr. Gilleran moved back to the Bay Area and signed on with a developing practice in Primary Care Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo in 2000. He completed a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy and Musculoskeletal Primary Care at Kaiser Vallejo in 2002. Dr. Gilleran returned to academics in 2007, where he began a long relationship with Samuel Merritt University (SMU) as an adjunct and later as a core faculty member. He returned to research in 2008 and completed a DSc in Rehabilitation Science from University of California, San Francisco / San Francisco State in 2013. Dr. Gilleran currently is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at SMU where he teaches courses in the musculoskeletal curriculum for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
