Bio
Joy Williams is an assistant professor at University of the Pacific’s DPT program and a senior physical therapist in neurologic rehabilitation at Kaiser Permanente. She graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 2012 and with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2015. She completed the Kaiser Permanente Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Post-graduate residency in 2016 and is IPNFA PNF Level 5 certified. She completed the Shepherd Center Neurologic Physical Therapy residency in 2017 and Shepherd Center Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Fellowship in 2019. She is a board certified neurologic clinical specialist and has a specialist interest in the physical therapy management of neurodegenerative disease. Joy has been teaching in the Kaiser Permanente Northern California neurologic physical therapy residency program since 2021. In addition to her role as neurologic residency faculty, Dr. Williams teaches Nervous System and Behavior, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Exercise Physiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and Research Writing in her role as assistant professor in the University of the Pacific DPT program. Outside of work, Joy enjoys spending time in nature with her family. Joy is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor (ACCI) Level I.
