Bio
Katie Parafinczuk graduated with a B.S. in biology from Emory University in 2007, and a DPT degree from Arcadia University in 2011. She is a Neurologic Clinical Specialist on the rehabilitation team at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City where she specializes in neurologic physical therapy in the outpatient and acute care settings. She works as a clinical mentor within the Kaiser Permanente Northern California neurologic physical therapy residency program. In 2015 she was selected as a neurological clinical leader to work on Kaiser’s re-design team establishing region-wide practice protocols for neurological therapists in the outpatient setting. Katie is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor (ACCI) Level I.
Her teaching experience includes co-designing a balance and fall prevention curriculum for the Evidence In Motion continuing education program. Region-wide lectures on Parkinson’s disease to therapists in the home setting and to community Parkinson Support groups. Her volunteer work includes teaching a weekly PWR!Moves™ Group class for those with Parkinson’s disease at the Redwood City Veterans Memorial Senior Center and helping plan and lead the movement pavilion at the National Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day charity walk in San Francisco. She is a member and on the board of directors of the American Neurosurgery International (Amcani) volunteer group where she’s traveled to Vietnam on three medical mission trips giving presentations and clinical guidance to health care providers on early mobility with neurosurgical patients.
