Margaret Anderson is the recipient of the Inspire Award presented posthumously in October 2023.
Margaret Anderson, PT, MAppSci was a faculty member of the Kaiser Northern California OMPT Fellowship program from 1985 to 2023. She was very dedicated to physical therapy education and had a positive impact on many physical therapists as they participated in our OMPT Fellowship program.
During many years of teaching as a didactic instructor and serving on the curriculum committee for the OMPT Fellowship program, she also practiced concurrently in Mill Valley at Marin Orthopedic Rehabilitation. Margaret had extensive teaching experience in manual therapy and conducted numerous short-term courses in Australia and the USA. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Therapists (AAOMPT) awarded her Honorary Fellow status in 2010 for her contribution to Manual Therapy education in the USA. AAOMPT awarded her the Karltenborn “Teach I Must” Award in 2016. Margaret was proud to become a citizen of USA after moving here from Australia, and was passionate about classical ballet and gardening in her home city of San Francisco. Margaret graduated from the School of Physiotherapy at The University of South Australia in 1978. She completed the yearlong program in advanced manipulative therapy with Geoffrey Maitland in 1980, earning a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Manipulative Therapy. In 1993, she returned to Australia to complete a Master of Applied Science.
